Passion for Pots at Liverpool One

The Paradise Street Development Area forms part of the Liverpool One regeneration programme which is a major contributor to the city's recent renaissance. It was completed in 2008 to mark Liverpool's European Capital of Culture year. The £920 million project involved the redevelopment of 42 acres of under-utilised land in the City centre and linked the Albert Dock with the retail centre and the historic Ropewalks area.

Passion for Pots were delighted to be asked to be supply planters for One Park West which is the largest residential building and tallest structure to be delivered by the Paradise Project. It is a 17 storey, mixed- use building on Strand Street offering an outstanding view of the River Mersey and occupying a prime position to the west of the new 5-acre park.

Rising to the challenge of contributing to the largest urban development in Europe, Passion for Pots commissioned bespoke Titanium planters from their premium range to create private terrace spaces outside the apartments. The impressive size of the planters and the futuristic appearance of the titanium perfectly met the brief - to create boundaries which would be in keeping with the style of the architecture and be pleasing on the eye to the residents.

Working closely with the landscape architects BCA Landscape, Passion for Pots also supplied planters from their standard range to create linear partitioning on the communal roof terrace. For this purpose, large and medium Urban Icon pots were chosen for their highly durable and frost resistant qualities (the unique double-wall construction means plants are properly insulated) as well as their contemporary look. These soft bowl shaped planters always create impact and are perfect for creating structure on a flat roof terrace.

Passion for Pots were given the opportunity to make their mark when problems arose with the original supply chain. Determined to meet the challenge head- on, installation was completed on time and to budget with planters that are modern, stylish and manufactured to the highest standard.

As a new company in the North West Passion for Pots are immensely proud to have been a part of this exciting and ground-breaking project. As One Park West has also been designed in partnership with local Liverpool-based Brock Carmichael Architects, this is a tremendous testament to local industry.
